Job Summary:
As a web developer at Primal Communications, you will be responsible for creating website templates from a PSD design, installing and customizing Wordpress plugins, and building new plugins to meet project requirements. You should have at least a couple years experience with Wordpress and PHP. You will be working with the Lead Web Application Developer on multiple projects with strict timelines, either at our office or telecommuting.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
- Planning and development of Wordpress-powered websites
- Building Wordpress themes in HTML and CSS from a PSD
- Deploying to LAMP-based web hosting environments
- Web browser testing and tweaking
Minimum Requirements
- Experience with theming Wordpress and related plugins
- Experience converting PSDs into HTML and CSS
- Able to work well with a team
- Good communication skills
- Capable of taking direction and reporting to senior web developer
- Able to be present at our office in Nanaimo for client meetings
- Basic search engine optimization skills
Bonus Skills:
- Ability to develop a social media marketing strategy
- Experience with Search Engine Marketing and advanced SEO
- Solid understanding of programming fundamentals
- Experience implementing jQuery and related plugins
- Experience with responsive design
- Experience with email-delivery services such as Campaign Monitor and Mailchimp
- Knowledge of popular social networks and integration with client websites
- Problem-solving skills to assist with client website issues
